Ella Jane Fitzgerald, née le 25 avril 1917 à Newport News (Virginie) et morte le 15 juin 1996 à Beverly Hills (quartier de Los Angeles), est une chanteuse de jazz américaine. Issue d'un milieu modeste, elle commence très jeune à chanter à l'Apollo Theater de Harlem (New York) en 1934. Sa carrière solo débute en 1941 et dure jusqu'au début des années 1980. Elle a également une carrière d'actrice dans plusieurs films des années 1940 à 1960. Durant le début de sa carrière artistique, elle est confrontée aux discriminations contre les Noirs, que subissent alors de nombreux artistes. Elle est considérée, avec Sarah Vaughan, Nina Simone et Billie Holiday, comme l'une des plus importantes et célèbres chanteuses de l'histoire du jazz, avec une tessiture de trois octaves, remarquable pour la pureté de sa voix et sa capacité d'improvisation, particulièrement en scat. Elle hérite du titre de Jazz Royalty «The First Lady of Song» (littéralement «La Première Dame de la chanson», mais souvent traduit par «La Grande Dame du jazz») après l'apogée du swing. Elle a enregistré 70 albums, vendus à environ 40 millions d'exemplaires en près de 60 ans de carrière, et remporté 14 Grammy Awards, dont le Grammy du couronnement d'une carrière. Elle est célèbre entre autres pour ses improvisations, avec en particulier Mack the Knife (extrait de L'Opéra de quat'sous) à Berlin en 1960, morceau au cours duquel elle a eu un trou de mémoire et qu'elle a poursuivi sans hésitation en alternant scat et paroles improvisées. Cette version de Mack the Knife est certainement l'un des succès les plus connus d'Ella Fitzgerald, avec Mister Paganini et How High the Moon. Mortimer 'Mort' Weisinger (1915-1978) was an American magazine and comic book editor best known for editing DC Comics' Superman during the mid-1950s to 1960s, in the Silver Age of comic books. He is credited with explaining Superman's powers in a more scientific way. Mort co-created such features as Aquaman, Green Arrow, Johnny Quick, and the original Vigilante, served as story editor for the Adventures of Superman TV-series (1960s), and compiled the often-revised paperback 1001 Valuable Things You Can Get Free. He retired from DC around 1970 and was succeeded by Julius Schwartz on the Superman titles.

Kuter had a career that spanned several decades, and he appeared in numerous popular movies and TV shows. Kuter's acting career began in the 1950s, and he made his film debut in the 1952 movie "Thunderbirds." Over the years, he appeared in various genres, including dramas, comedies, and westerns. Some of his notable film credits include "The Last Starfighter" (1984), "Warlock" (1989), "Six Days, Seven Nights" (1998), and "The Princess Diaries" (2001). In addition to his work in films, Kuter was also a familiar face on television. He appeared in numerous TV shows throughout his career, often portraying supporting or character roles. Some of the notable TV series he appeared in include "Gunsmoke," "The Twilight Zone," "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "MAS*H," and "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Ismail originally hails from Bombay, India where he began his acting career at a fairly young age, taking an active part in every school production from Shakespeare to Moliere. He began performing on stage professionally in Musical Theatre in productions such as Grease; They Are Playing our Song and Best of Broadway. He has trained extensively in jazz ballet under the guidance of Karla Singh and Shiamak Davar. He then moved to New York and began his acting career in the Big Apple. He trained at the Lee Strasberg theater Institute in New York for 3 years. During that time he was working on the local south Asian cable channels such as ITV and ATN as a TV host introducing Music videos and Bollywood tidbits. He then began the auditioning circuit around that time and landed some guest roles in independent features such as the Tic Code (starring Gregory Hines). He also began acting on the popular Zee TV drama Mausam that was filmed in New York and Bombay. He was recently seen in the independent feature film Wings of Hope for which he won Best Actor at the Cinevue International film festival.

Il travaille notamment pour les journaux France-Soir et France Dimanche, et pour les magazines Tintin et Pilote. Avec Jean-Michel Charlier, il est l'auteur de la série Tanguy et Laverdure. Il crée également, avec René Goscinny, les séries Oumpah-Pah et Astérix. De 1959 à 1977, Albert Uderzo dessine vingt-quatre albums d'Astérix sur des scénarios de Goscinny.
