Mae Mercer (June 12, 1932 – October 29, 2008) was an American blues singer and actress. She was born in the Temperance Hall community of Edgecombe County. Mercer lived in North Carolina through age 15. She spent eight years in the 1960s singing in a blues bar in Paris, the Blues Club, owned by publisher Maurice Girodias and touring Europe. She eventually came to own and operate a blues club in the city. Mercer returned to the United States in the early 1970s to begin a career as an actress in films and television. Films in which she appeared included Dirty Harry (1971), The Beguiled (1971), Frogs (1972), Cindy (1978), and Pretty Baby (1978). She was co-producer of the documentary film Angela Davis: Portrait of a Revolutionary (1972). In 1996, the Mayor of Rocky Mount, NC, Fred Turnage, declared June 12 Mae Mercer Day. During this time, Mercer sought to produce her own biographical picture through her production company Black Owl Productions and was backed by local pastor Reverend James Bullock. Filming was slated to take place in Edgecombe County and other parts of North Carolina, New York, Paris and Southern California.

Johanna Spyri (née Johanna Heusser le 12 juin 1827 à Hirzel, canton de Zurich et morte le 7 juillet 1901 à Zurich) est une femme de lettres suisse alémanique, auteur d'histoires pour enfants et créatrice du personnage de Heidi. Johanna Spyri est la quatrième d'une famille de six enfants. Son père, Johann Jakob Heusser (1783-1859), est médecin, chirurgien et soigne les malades mentaux. Sa mère, Meta Schweizer (1797-1876), est la fille de Diethelm Schweizer, pasteur d'Hirzel, compositeur de cantiques et écrivain. Johanna suit sa scolarité primaire à Hirzel et reçoit des cours particuliers du pasteur Salomon Tobler à la cure, entre 1833 et 1841. De 1841 à 1843, elle poursuit sa formation à Zurich. Elle y apprend notamment les langues modernes et le piano. C'est à cette époque que commence son amitié avec Anna Fries, Betsy et Conrad Ferdinand Meyer. De 1844 à 1845, elle habite à Yverdon-les-Bains, une commune de suisse romande. De retour à Hirzel, entre 1845 et 1852, elle aide sa mère à élever ses deux jeunes sœurs. Elle devient alors une lectrice acharnée, tout particulièrement de Goethe et d'Annette von Droste-Hülshoff. Elle essaie alors de se séparer de la vision du monde particulièrement pieuse que lui avait transmise sa mère et apprend à connaître Heinrich Leuthold, un jeune écrivain révolutionnaire d'esprit. Elle passera de nombreux étés dans la région de Coire dans le canton des Grisons, en particulier à Jenins et Maienfeld, qui devinrent les lieux où se déroule l'histoire de Heidi. En 1852, elle épouse Johann Bernhard Spyri, avocat puis chancelier de la ville de Zurich. Ils ont un fils unique, Bernhard. Son mari et son fils meurent tous deux en 1884. Elle se consacre alors à son travail littéraire et aux œuvres charitables. Elle meurt en 1901 à l'âge de 74 ans. Sa dépouille est inhumée au cimetière de Sihlfeld à Zurich. Selon les archivistes de la ville de Montreux, il semblerait que Johanna Spyri ait aussi séjourné, dans une maison toujours existante aujourd'hui, qu'elle décrit dans un de ses livres, et qui correspond de nos jours à la rue de la gare 23. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Clyde "Gerry" Geronimi (June 12, 1901 - April 24, 1989) was an Italian-American animation director. He is best known for his work at Walt Disney Productions. Geronimi was born in Chiavenna, Italy, immigrating to the United States as a young child. Geronimi's earliest work in the animation field was for the J.R. Bray Studios, where he worked with Walter Lantz. Geronimi left Bray in 1931 to join Walt Disney Productions, where he remained until 1959. Geronimi started off in the shorts department as an animator, eventually becoming a director. His 1941 short, "Lend a Paw", won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. Geronimi moved into directing feature-length animated films after end of World War II. He was one of the directors on Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, and One Hundred and One Dalmatians. After Geronimi left Disney in 1959, he worked in television for a number of years (mostly at UPA), including directing many episodes of the 1967 animated Spider-Man series. He retired from animation sometime in the late 1960s, and provided illustrations for children's books written by Joan Pizzo. Geronimi received the 1978 Winsor McCay Award from the International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, for his lifetime of contributions to the animation field. The award was presented by his long time friend and colleague Walter Lantz. Geronimi died on April 24, 1989 at his home in Newport Beach, California. He was 87. Leonard Norman Wein (/wiːn/; June 12, 1948 – September 10, 2017) was an American comic book writer and editor best known for co-creating DC Comics' Swamp Thing and Marvel Comics' Wolverine, and for helping revive the Marvel superhero team the X-Men (including the co-creation of Nightcrawler, Storm, and Colossus). Additionally, he was the editor for writer Alan Moore and illustrator Dave Gibbons' influential DC miniseries Watchmen. Wein was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2008.

Au cours d'une carrière qui s'étale sur plus de 40 années, il a travaillé avec Alain Resnais, Denys De La Patellière, Claude Pinoteau, Yves Allegret, Les frères Taviani, Jean Claude Carrière, Michel Drach, entre autres... a donné la réplique à Lino Ventura, Pierre Brasseur, Claude Rich, Daniel Gelin, Jean Louis Trintignant, Victor Lanoux, Marie France Pisier, Pierre Mondy, Jacque Higelin, Jean Richard, Bruno Cremer, Alain Cuny.... et tant d'autres.
