Wade Anthony Boggs (born June 15, 1958) is an American former professional baseball third baseman. He spent 18 seasons in Major League Baseball, primarily with the Boston Red Sox. He also played for the New York Yankees (1993-1997), and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1998-1999). He won the 1996 World Series with the Yankees. Boggs became the 23rd player to reach 3,000 career hits. His hitting in the 1980s and 1990s made him a perennial contender for American League batting titles. He is 33rd on the list of career leaders for batting average among Major League Baseball players with a minimum of 1,000 plate appearances and has the highest ranking of those still alive. Boggs was elected to the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005. With 12 straight All-Star appearances, Boggs is third only to Brooks Robinson and George Brett in number of consecutive appearances as a third baseman. In 1997, he ranked number 95 on the Sporting News list of the 100 Greatest Baseball Players.[1] Boggs, a 1976 graduate of Plant High School in Tampa, Florida,[2] resides in the Tampa Palms neighborhood of Tampa.

Il tourne avec les plus grands réalisateurs de l'époque, notamment Georges Franju, Marcel Carné et Jean Renoir, mais c'est la télévision qui lui offre ses premiers grands rôles :Rouletabille dans Le Mystère de la chambre jaune de Jean Kerchbronet Sganarelle dans Dom Juan ou le Festin de pierre de Marcel Bluwalen 1965, et surtout François Vidocq dans Les Nouvelles Aventures de Vidocq de 1971 à 1973, où il remplace Bernard Noël, qui était dans les années 1960 le protagoniste de la première série. Ce n'est qu'en 1974 avec Les Seins de glace de Georges Lautner qu'il se fait véritablement remarquer au cinéma, obtenant la consécration avec Un éléphant ça trompe énormément d'Yves Robert en 1976 qui lui vaut un César du meilleur acteur dans un second rôle en 1977. Le succès du film entraîne une suite en 1978, Nous irons tous au paradis. Il obtient de nouveau un César en 1980 pour son rôle dans La Guerre des polices. Il a tourné dans plus de 90 films dont La Boum de Claude Pinoteau, où il interprète le père de Vic (Sophie Marceau), Les Loups entre eux de José Giovanni, et plus récemment dans Camping et Le Héros de la famille (2006). De 2003 à 2007, il joue le policier Franck Keller dans la série télévisée éponyme, diffusé sur TF1. He is most known for his role in the 1987 Stanley Kubrick film Full Metal Jacket, where he played the door gunner who uttered the much-quoted lines "Get some!" (adopted as the byline for the 2008 movie Tropic Thunder) and "Ain't war hell?" He was originally cast to play Gunnery Sergeant Hartman but was removed from the role in favor of R. Lee Ermey.
