His training includes, but is not limited to, two years towards a B.F.A. in Theater with an Emphasis in Acting, at West Virginia University in Morgantown, W.V. Il fut ministre de la culture du gouvernement Lula da Silva du 2 janvier 2003 au 30 juillet 2008. Diplômé en gestion, il obtient son premier emploi dans l'entreprise Gessy Lever (actuelle Unilever) à São Paulo. Mais c'est la musique qui le rend célèbre dans les années 1960, au sein du mouvement tropicaliste. Gilberto Gil commence sa carrière comme musicien de bossa nova, mais se met rapidement à composer des chansons centrées sur l'engagement politique et social, avec son camarade Caetano Veloso. Damien Sargue, de son vrai nom Damien Gras, est un chanteur français né le 26 juin 1981 à Caen (Calvados), essentiellement connu pour son rôle de Roméo dans la comédie musicale Roméo et Juliette, de la haine à l'amour. Il a des origines espagnoles de par son grand père. Les parents de Damien Sargue divorcent alors qu'il a un an et sa mère s'installe avec lui et son frère Julien en Normandie. Tout débute vraiment pour lui à l'âge de 8 ans lorsque sa mère décide de l'inscrire à l'École des variétés, à Caen, alors que Damien rêve, lui, de faire du judo. Sa déception est de courte durée puisqu'il se prend rapidement de passion pour la musique et le chant, dans lesquels il excelle déjà malgré son jeune âge. Au début des années 1990, Damien participe à un concours télévisuel présenté par Jean-Pierre Foucault, Les numéros 1 de demain, rubrique de la célèbre émission Sacrée Soirée.
