Clifford Smith (born April 1, 1971 in Staten Island, New York), better known by his stage name Method Man or Meth is an American hip hop artist, record producer, actor and member of the hip hop collective Wu-Tang Clan. He took his stage name from the 1979 film The Fearless Young Boxer, also known as Method Man. He is one half of the rap duo Method Man & Redman along with fellow rapper Redman. He won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for "I'll Be There for You/You're All I Need to Get By" with Mary J. Blige. John Joseph Feild (born 1978), better known as JJ Feild, is a British American film, television, and theatre actor. He started his television career in 1999. Feild played Fred Garland in Philip Pullman's The Ruby in the Smoke and The Shadow in the North television adaptations. In 2007, he starred as Henry Tilney in the television film Northanger Abbey. The following year, he made his West End debut in a production of Ring Round the Moon. From 2014 to 2016, Feild portrayed Major John André in Turn: Washington's Spies. Nikolai V. Gogol (1809–1852) was an Ukrainian and Russian novelist. Although Gogol was considered by his contemporaries one of the preeminent figures of the natural school of Russian literary realism, later critics have found in his work a fundamentally romantic sensibility, with strains of surrealism and the grotesque ("The Nose", "Viy", "The Overcoat," "Nevsky Prospekt"). His early works, such as Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka, were influenced by his Ukrainian upbringing, Ukrainian culture and folklore. His later writing satirised political corruption in the Russian Empire (The Government Inspector, Dead Souls). Grace Lee Whitney (April 1, 1930 - May 1, 2015) was an American actress and singer, best known for her role as Janice Rand on the original Star Trek television series and subsequent Star Trek films. Born Mary Ann Chase, she was adopted by the Whitney family, who changed her name to Grace Elaine. She started her entertainment career as a "girl singer" on Detroit's WJR radio at the age of fourteen. After she left home, she began to call herself Lee Whitney, eventually becoming known as Grace Lee Whitney. In her late teens, she moved to Chicago where she opened in nightclubs for Billie Holiday and Buddy Rich, and toured with the Spike Jones and Fred Waring Bands. Whitney debuted on Broadway in Top Banana, playing Miss Holland. Following the successful run of the show, she joined the cast in Hollywood, where she recreated the role in the 1954 movie of the same name. In Los Angeles, Whitney auditioned for and was cast in the starring role of Lucy Brown in the national tour of The Threepenny Opera. Whitney made more than a hundred television appearances following her television dramatic debut in Cowboy G-Men in 1953; The Real McCoys, Wagon Train, Gunsmoke, Bat Masterson, The Rifleman, 77 Sunset Strip, Bewitched, Batman, and The Untouchables. Il apprend les chansons de rock 'n' roll de Fats Domino, Little Richard, Bobby Day ou Dee Clark. Sa carrière débute lorsqu'il quitte la campagne en autobus pour la capitale Kingston, où il rencontre Count Boysie (ne pas confondre avec Count Basie...) avec qui il enregistre les ska Daisy Got Me Crazy et I'm Sorry pour le sound system de sir Cavalier. He also produced Nagisa Ōshima's controversial film In the Realm of the Senses (1976). He has been called "the most important director to emerge in the pink film genre," and one of "Japan's leading directors of the 1960s." His 2010 film, Caterpillar, was nominated for the Golden Bear at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival. Ali MacGraw est la fille de Richard MacGraw, un américain catholique d'origine écossaise né dans le New Jersey et abandonné, orphelin à l'«enfance tragique», qui s'est enfui en mer à l'âge de 16 ans et a étudié l'art à Munich puis est devenu un père violent et sectaire d'après sa fille, et de Frances Klein (1901–1980), une mère juive d'origine hongroise, née en 1901 à Boston, fille de Moïshe Maurice Klein et de Pauline Donner de Budapest; Frances n'a pas divulgué son origine à son mari de crainte de son fanatisme. Ces parents, mariés sur le tard, sont tous les deux graphistes pour le commerce ou la publicité mais Frances, qui a étudié à Paris où elle a fréquenté l’avant-garde artistique avant de s'installer à Greenwich Village, considère son mari comme «le véritable artiste» dans le couple malgré sa frustration due au manque de succès de ses peintures. Elle a un frère Richard junior qui sera artiste.
