Ermanno Olmi (born July 24, 1931 in Bergamo, Lombardy) was a renowned Italian film director. Olmi's films have been described as "humanistic and reflective, portraying everyday people in particular landscapes and locations, while at the same time being charged with social comment and poetic flashes." His films fit into the artistic mold of Italian neorealism, though Olmi argued, in an interview found on the Criterion Edition DVD of his 1961 film, Il Posto, that this was the artistic tradition he was responding against because he used non-actors in authentic locations whereas neorealism, he claimed, used professional actors. However, many neorealist directors also used non-professional actors for secondary and sometimes even primary roles. His films, like most of those considered to be products of the neorealist movement, are shot in long, slow takes, and generally contain some sort of social commentary.

Lewis Sayre Schwartz (1926-2011) was an American comic book artist, advertising creator and filmmaker. He is credited as a ghost artist for Bob Kane on Batman, penciling some 120+ individual Batman shorts between 1947 and 1953. He also did ghost art for Brick Bradford and Secret Agent X-9, and co-created the villain Deadshot. His signature never appeared on any of this work, but Lew was well-known among practitioners of the comic strip. After he had left the career in comics, Lew Schwartz was a teacher at the School of Visual Arts during the early 1960s, and co-founded the irreverent TV commercial production company Ferro, Mogubgub and Schwartz in 1961. They worked on the Kubrick movie Dr. Strangelove, for which they brought an innovative style to the lettered credits. His long career in television would come to include segments for Sesame Street and the direction of a Barbara Streisand special. He was the recipient of an Inkpot Award in 2002, and four Emmy Awards. In 1981, Lew produced a great documentary about Milton Caniff, in which several luminaries of comics art are interviewed on video, including the great Noel Sickles.

Thierry Frémont décide de devenir comédien durant ses années d'études dans un lycée technique. Il débute au théâtre en incarnant le personnage de Poil de carotte puis suit les enseignements de Francis Huster au cours Florent. A 20 ans, il réussit le concours d'entrée au conservatoire et travaille sous la direction de Daniel Mesguish, Mario Gonzales et Philippe Adrien. La cinéaste belge Marion Hansel lui donne en 1987 le rôle principal des Noces barbares, pour lequel il obtient le Prix Jean Gabin. Après Travelling avant, qui lui rapporte le César du Meilleur espoir masculin, Thierry Frémont privilégie le théâtre et la télévision, apparaissant toutefois au générique des Caprices d'un fleuve de Bernard Giraudeau. En 1996, le comédien revient en force au cinéma avec Les Démons de Jesus d'un Bernie Bonvoisin qu'il retrouvera deux ans plus tard pour Les Grandes bouches. Son abattage et sa présence font merveille dans l'univers du réalisateur, entre mots d'auteurs et personnages gouailleurs. Après la chronique sociale Nadia et les hippopotames et les comédies Le Fils du Francais et Livraison à domicile, Thierry Frémont fait partie, en 2002, du générique du Femme fatale de Brian De Palma. En 2004, il rejoint la troupe d'Espace détente, adaptation sur grand écran du programme télé culte Caméra Café. Après avoir remporté un Emmy Award pour son interprétation dans la série Dans la tête du tueur, le comédien se dirige vers des films plus populaires, moins intimistes avec notamment une apparition dans la comédie Un ticket pour l'espace où il incarne un professeur de théâtre. Puis il rejoint, la même année, l'équipe de Les Brigades du Tigre : une production imposante dans le paysage cinématographique français. En 2006, Thierry Frémont joue le rôle de Urbain dans le thriller La Bombe humaine et continue à s'illustrer à la télévision dans des téléfilms comme Chez Maupassant en 2008 et 2009. On le retrouve au cinéma dans le film Sans état d'âme en 2008 et dans Une affaire d'Etat d'Eric Valette aux côtés d'André Dussollier et Rachida Brakni l'année suivante. L'année 2010 le voit apparaître dans deux films liés au lourd passé français du XXe siècle : la Rafle du Vél d'Hiv' dans La Rafle puis la guerre d'Algérie, teintée de fantastique, dans Djinns derrière Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet.
